transplanting jade

Hi
I have to move/ pot a large jade plant (about 8-10 years old) to make way for a structure; I've offered the bulk of it to a nearby nursery but no doubt won't be able to resist trying to strike the branches that are currently growing through a paling fence. Is there a maximum size that's best to try? Should the cuttings be allowed to dry off first? Can rain (assuming we get some) cause rotting in the early stages? Thanks... Rose. |

Rose, let the end dry out and then stick it in very well draining mix and don't water it too much, instant plant. Marion. |

| I have potted different sizes A very large one recently , I just broke the piece off (I was told not to cut it) I left it for two days to dry the tip, then I Planted it, that was 6 weeks ago and now it looks great |

| Thanks for the sage words. The nursery person failed to turn up and I identified a spot where I'd really like it to grow: in sandy soil near an east facing brick wall. Would be fine to have a succulent there because of the T (termite) problem. It took a lot of getting out because the nearby golden cane palm had it well anchored in with its roots, rotten thing. I bent the crowbar! There was no thought of being kind to the palm. Rose. |
